X-Ray

General X-ray is a quick imaging modality allowing our team to accommodate a walk-in service for patients with valid imaging referrals. X-ray is a low risk and low dose examination, suitable for all ages including infants.

Dental Imaging

Parkes Medical Imaging provides numerous dental imaging services, these include, orthopantomogram (OPG), lateral cephalogram (LAT-CEPH), and posteroanterior cephalograms (PA-CEPH). These scans are useful diagnostic tools for dentists, orthodontists, and general practitioners! They provide practitioners with the ability to assess the development of teeth, detecting oral infections or disease, and delivers a general overview of patient’s teeth and supporting bone.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is an imaging modality that produces high frequency sound waves to image soft tissue densities within the body. Ultrasound is a radiation free and minimally invasive imaging technique that allows sonographers to visualise and measure different anatomy and diagnose potential pathology. Parkes Medical Imaging provides a range of ultrasound scans including pregnancy, musculoskeletal, vascular and general (abdomen, renal, etc.).

CT - Computed Tomography

Computed tomography (CT) is an imaging modality that combines thin slice x-ray images and computer processing acquisitions to produce highly detailed images of different regions of interest. CT scans are used to image all tissue densities providing referring practitioners with a more in-depth report and higher quality diagnosis of potential pathologies. There are cases that require an intravenous injection of iodine-based contrast media. Contrast or ‘CT dye’ is used to provide more detail and differentiate complex pathologies. For scans that require contrast media, patients are provided with a questionnaire and pre imaging preparation.

Interventional Radiology

Parkes Medical Imaging offers a monthly cortisone injection clinic with help of our specialists who are trained in interventional procedures. Cortisone injections are performed under computed tomography or ultrasound imaging guidance. Cortisone injections may relieve pain, reduce inflammation and reduce nerve sensations. These injections must be recommended by your general practitioner or specialist and require a pre-scan of the region of interest.
